CNC, the sole Intra-Asia shortsea carrier brand of the CMA CGM Group, a world leader in shipping and logistics, recently announced their new Straits Thailand Belawan (STB) service.
Plying between Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and Indonesia, the new weekly service will be CNC’s first service with a direct call in Belawan, and added to CNC’s existing 17 Thailand-bound services.
Mr. Benoit de Quillacq, Managing Director of CMA CGM (Thailand) shared “CNC’s STB service establishes our first direct call from Bangkok to Belawan. This opens up new business opportunities and facilitates the flow of in-bound and out-bound cargoes between the two ports. Also, by calling at the transshipment hubs of Singapore and Port Klang, STB serves as an attractive service choice for customers who are looking to connect their Thai export cargoes to major regions such as Europe, America, the Middle East, Red Sea, India and Oceania via the comprehensive global shipping and logistics network of the CMA CGM Group, a world leader in shipping and logistics.”
At the same time, STB caters to the high demand for in-bound transshipment cargoes to Bangkok from Singapore and Port Klang. STB also presents cost savings for importers by allowing them to ship directly to Bangkok instead of having to transport shipments to Bangkok via Laem Chabang.
STB is set to facilitate the regional and global imports and exports of Indonesia through the port of Belawan, the busiest port in Indonesia outside Java. In addition, this service makes weekly calls at the trans-shipment hubs of Singapore and Port Klang.
STB has started its maiden voyage from the port of Bangkok on 3 September. STB sails with the following port rotation: Port Klang – Singapore – Bangkok – Singapore – Port Klang – Belawan – Port Klang.
